Sub summer is off to a great start! The girls have settled into their bunks and are getting to know their counselors. We’ve had some great evening activities like The Counselor Welcome Show, Elections and First Campfire. They also had their first social with the Brant Lake Camp boys.
Yesterday the girls had their first Sub Night meeting to begin planning their big night. Each bunk came up with some awesome ideas. With an almost unanimous vote they decided on their theme!! The girls are beyond excited to start choosing leaders and committees.
The girls are also anxiously awaiting Breakout this week so they can find out if they are on the blue or white team and finally get team competition started! Many of the girls have begun training for the 5K and some of the team competition events like the Swim to Schultz’s.

Tonight was Aunt Emma’s Auction for the younger campers, and for the older girls it was the first social event with Brant Lake Camp. Be sure to check out the crazy attire in tonight’s photos. They bring and wear what they can so they can win for their bunkmates. While it did rain for the end of the evening activities, we saw a spectacular orange sunset over the mountains across the lake.
Last night we all enjoyed our first campfire. Our blue and white team captains and lieutenants lit the torches of spirit, friendship, loyalty and beauty. We also made wishes on wish sticks that we placed in the fire to join the ashes we save of the wishes of summers before. They also joined wishes shared in by our alumnae who want campers to enjoy every moment and each other. We sang songs and enjoyed a breathtaking sunset over the mountains.

We use the best and freshest ingredients and try to incorporate whole grains and fresh fruit as much as feasible. Our diet is a balance of the most nutritious and the most delicious. Often we can achieve both making the most nutritious also the most delicious.
We bake our own table breads at camp and offer both traditional hard crusted fresh breads and rolls and dense whole grain varieties of home baked loaves. We bake all of our desserts at Camp. We appreciate that many families are focused on whole grain and high fiber for their daughters. When we offer sliced bread at Camp, we want you to know that it is Arnold’s Whole Grain and when we offer cereals, they are all whole grain. Our pasta is all imported from Italy and is either whole grain cuts or semolina cuts.
We are experimenting with how much whole grain will be welcomed by the campers, but we will soon find out. Our pasta bar features a variety of pastas both whole grain and semolina.
