News From The Point

This summer on the waterfront has been near perfect. Our energetic and skilled waterfront staff has taken each of the program areas to the next level and campers have been able to achieve things that they never thought possible.

Some of the exciting adventures this summer have been: the canoe trips to Shultz’s Island and Brant Lake Camp; games of Quidditch in the plyacks;  sailing regattas against Walden, Che-Na-Wah and Brant Lake Camp;  and cutting clinics at water-ski where some of the high-end skiers mastered the slalom course.  Finally, our amazing swim team remains undefeated with each victory lead by our own Peaker Fabi.

With the perfect Adirondack weather the waterfront is the place to be this summer!

The Ti’s took on The Great Escape and went on a search for Sasquatch! Then they hopped on into 50’s night and jived the night away!

The Peakers and Seniors had an amazing time on their trips to Boston last week, especially the Blue Man Group! Sheer Madness and a tour of Harvard was also great. The Seniors are hard at work preparing for Senior Night, and the Peakers have been busy with Banquet. Everyone is excited for the events coming in the next few days!

Yesterday, in addition to the 5k race and our Sunday awards, we also enjoyed our Team Competition Aquatics Meet. The girls showed off their waterski, boating, sailing and zany swimming skills. They has such a wonderful day. After they enjoyed the beach, our Spanish-speaking campers and staff hosted our 2011 Viva La Fiesta night. With some of the best food of the summer and some great music we enjoyed sharing some culture with our friends.

Today, we have the first day of our new schedule and start practicing for Team Sing. The Subs are headed off on their Lake Placid trip, and the rest of camp is excited for 50s night tonight. Boy, these late days of summer are action-packed!

Today we had a record turn-out both from Point O’Pines and for the race as a whole at the Hudson Headwaters Health Network (HHHN) 5k Care for Kids Race.  Many of our campers enjoyed racing through our local scenic roads, and challenging themselves to reach their race goals.  Point O’Pines Camp is a major sponsor of this race to benefit the health of kids who live in the Adirondack north country.  As in previous years, the HHHN has posted the race results on their website.
