Gratitude A grateful heart is a happy heart. Campers who show gratitude spend each day expressing moments that made them happy. Their consistent expression of gratitude encourages being more thankful and more thoughtful about others. They express thanks and appreciation for all that they have both at camp and back at home.
Bravery This award is given to a camper who is brave and is able to overcome her fears. She is able to try new things or do the right thing when it is not the easy choice. This camper knows the difference between right and wrong, and is willing to make good choices even when what is right does not match what is popular. She is brave at activity areas, where she tries something new or outside of her comfort zone. She is fearless when it comes to reaching her goals, standing up for what is right and making camp a better place for all.
Kindness Campers receiving this award are those who we all enjoy being around for their bright smiles, welcoming spirits, and inclusive attitudes. Kindness is a behavior marked by acts of generosity, consideration and concern for others without expecting praise or awards in return. This camper can put herself in someone else’s shoes and shows a great understanding of her fellow campers. She is kind and compassionate with all of her fellow campers and staff, and does her best to learn the perspective of others during conflict.
The Fourth of July at Point O’Pines is always something special, and this year’s celebration was filled with energy, color, and the kind of joy only camp can deliver.
From the moment the sun rose, the spirit around camp was full of excitement. Campers dressed head to toe in red, white, and blue, waving flags and wearing their brightest smiles. The dining room was fully decorated with colorful banners and flags, and the whole camp joined together in song. Campers sang America the Beautiful and other favorites, creating a heartfelt start to the day.
In a new addition to the festivities, the entire camp gathered at the flagpole after breakfast. Brandon raised the American flag while everyone stood for the Star-Spangled Banner. It was a moment of togetherness and a hopeful start to a day full of celebration.
Morning activities continued with the usual fun, but everything had a patriotic twist. Campers brought their red, white, and blue energy to the waterfront, tennis courts, and all across camp. In the afternoon, special surprises kept the celebration going. Ice cream sundaes, water balloon tosses, and an inflatable waterpark on the beach with towering slides filled the afternoon with excitement and laughter.
Dinner brought everyone together for an all-camp cookout on the field near volleyball. As the sun began to set, the entire camp headed over to BLC to spend the evening sharing games, making new friends, and enjoying the holiday together. The Peakers even reprised their Breakout dance for the BLC Seniors, adding a memorable highlight to the night.
What stood out most, though, was not just the events or decorations. It was the spirit of celebration. Campers embraced the joy of being together, creating new friendships, and honoring a holiday that brings people closer. At the Point, that is what the Fourth is all about.
Today was a truly special day as the Point O’Pines family reunited to celebrate the deep bonds and unforgettable memories of Summer 2024. It was heartwarming to see campers and staff reconnect, sharing laughter, stories, and the unique friendships that make camp so special.
The premiere of the 2024 Summer Video was a highlight, bringing smiles and laughter as we relived some of the best moments from this past summer. Campers enjoyed signing each other’s yearbooks and reminiscing over photos that captured the memories and spirit of their time at camp. A lively mini Camp Auction and a special birthday song added a bit of excitement, but the true joy of the day came from simply being together again.
A special thank-you to our Peakers of 2024 for your leadership this past summer. You’ve set an inspiring example for everyone in our camp community, and we will miss you. Your contributions will always be a part of the Point’s legacy, and we know you’ll carry the spirit of camp with you wherever you go.
As we hold onto these cherished memories, we’re already counting down the days until Summer 2025. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the Point for another incredible season filled with growth, laughter, and lifelong friendships!
