Dedication We recognize a camper who gives 100% of her effort to whatever challenge she faces. She is not only enthusiastic about her own passions, but is also supportive of her peers’ interests and goals. Her “can do” attitude and commitment is contagious among her friends and is valued by her counselors. She is a hard worker and respects others when they demonstrate dedication by trying new things and following through on promises made.
This past Friday, Point O’Pines was filled with sunshine and the unmistakable joy of Visiting Day. Families from near and far joined us for a beautiful day at camp, and we’re so grateful for the energy and love they brought with them.
This summer, Visiting Day took place all in one day. That change allowed the girls to jump right back into their favorite camp routines. From the moment the day began with a rush of hugs outside the Rec Hall to the Breakout dance that took over Main Lawn, it was clear just how special it is to share this place with the people we love.
Parents joined their daughters at activities all across camp, especially down at the waterfront, where swimming, boating, blob climbing and sunshine made for unforgettable memories. We even had an impromptu Pickleball tournament.
As always, the girls led the way by showing their families around, introducing their counselors and friends, and simply enjoying a day in the place they call home all summer long.
We were also thrilled to see so many Point O’Pines and Brant Lake Camp alumnae return to camp. It’s always meaningful when past campers come home especially as camp parents, and we shared a special alumni photo to mark the moment.
We’re already back in the swing of things, with full days of activities, evening programs, and the magic of the Point. On Sunday, the energy continued with our Team Competition Swim Meet. The spirit on the waterfront was high, with girls cheering each other on in a great display of teamwork and camp pride.
Thank you to all the moms and dads who brought their joy, their hugs, and maybe even the great weather, too.
Gratitude A grateful heart is a happy heart. Campers who show gratitude spend each day expressing moments that made them happy. Their consistent expression of gratitude encourages being more thankful and more thoughtful about others. They express thanks and appreciation for all that they have both at camp and back at home.
Bravery This award is given to a camper who is brave and is able to overcome her fears. She is able to try new things or do the right thing when it is not the easy choice. This camper knows the difference between right and wrong, and is willing to make good choices even when what is right does not match what is popular. She is brave at activity areas, where she tries something new or outside of her comfort zone. She is fearless when it comes to reaching her goals, standing up for what is right and making camp a better place for all.
Kindness Campers receiving this award are those who we all enjoy being around for their bright smiles, welcoming spirits, and inclusive attitudes. Kindness is a behavior marked by acts of generosity, consideration and concern for others without expecting praise or awards in return. This camper can put herself in someone else’s shoes and shows a great understanding of her fellow campers. She is kind and compassionate with all of her fellow campers and staff, and does her best to learn the perspective of others during conflict.
