News From The Point

This special evening has been a favorite with every generations at the Point.  We start with a special announcement in the dining room at lunch accompanied by an exciting breakout theme.

Following lunch, the campers return to their bunk and decide upon a bunk costume theme.  Each bunk has time at arts and crafts to prepare their creation of the costume theme.  We must be finished by 5pm when we have our traditional costume parade with the entire camp in costume, including staff, on the main lawn.  During the showing of costumes we are treated to passed hors d’oeuvres and “cocktails.”  Our Area Heads provide a special introduction to their costume theme and then we are off to an exciting entrance for the Seniors, who prepare a traditional parade down the steps of Senior House.

Then it is time for the Peakers to invite us into the dining room for a special dinner where they greet each camper and serve a special buffet dinner with many selections and goodies.  One of the highlights is the dessert buffet at the end.  

In the evening, we attend a cabaret show prepared by our talented staff.  Singing, dancing, skits and a great array of talent is highlighted for our campers.  We always look forward to this special evening, and Tonight’s the Night!  Feel free to dress up at home.

The New York Times talked to us this week about the more refined and healthy choices in today’s camp cuisine.   We certainly want our campers to enjoy the same great healthy meals that we love and share with them every day.  They learn to try lots of different foods and to match what they eat with the style of the rest of their life.  We are foodies ourselves and so are so many of our campers.
