We just wanted to post a quick note that everyone has made it safely to camp, and we are already busy having a great time. Tonight the staff is showing off all of the activities of camp in the “2014 Counselor Show”!

Just a few more hours!
Just about ready for arrival day tomorrow. Sue Himoff and the rest of the bus counselors have left camp and are ready to meet you at the buses in the morning. The work is almost done, and there is a calm over the camp, hiding the excitement and anticipation of our first day. I bet all of you at home are feeling it too! We just can’t wait!
In just over 3 days the fun begins
Tonight, your counselors are moving into your bunks. We have been training all week, and some for as many as three weeks. We are just bursting with excitement for your arrival on Saturday! From the Waterfront to Arts & Crafts, from Archery to the Farm, we are ready for the phenomenal summer of 2014 as soon as you get to camp.
During this week staff had their own team competition with multi-colored teams, cheers and amazing spirit. Congratulations to the winning Team Purple. We posted a few pictures to share with you behind your CampMinder login.
Delicious and Also Nut-Free
We are excited about our new venture into a nut-free environment at Point O’Pines. Embarking on this journey has not been easy but it is important and worthy. We are convinced our diet at Point O’Pines will be just as delicious as before with plenty of healthy options for every camper and counselor.
Our first task was to review all of the items we serve for labeling to confirm that all the ingredients that we use are nut-free. We checked labels, manufacturers websites and specific codes on every product we use. Some well known products were actually very confusing as the manufacturer would not make the statement that the product does not contain nuts, but instead referred us to package labeling which they suggest might change from time to time. We found that some products prepared by national manufacturers are nut free from some production plants and may contain nuts when from sister plants.
Once we determined the limited number of products that we had used containing nuts we searched for delicious substitutes. One example is the replacement of peanut butter with sun butter and the elimination of candy bars and ice cream containing nuts. We found plenty of healthy and enticing alternatives.
We think our campers will be very satisfied with their diet and find it even healthier and more delicious than before. There will be plenty of new options, especially all the new items that we have added to our candy canteen.

Happy Fathers’ Day!
At camp we know how important Dads and Grandfathers are to girls (and boys too). They have so much to teach us and they love us dearly. They are often just what is needed in a challenging moment in our lives. When you send your precious girls off to camp, we realize what an awesome responsibility we have trying to fill those shoes just a bit during the summer. So, this Fathers’ Day we want to say “Thank you” to all the great Dads and Granddads for a hard job well done.
