Determination We recognize a camper who gives 100% of her effort to whatever challenge she faces. She is not only enthusiastic about her own passions, but is also supportive of her peers’ interests and goals. Her “can do” attitude is contagious among her friends and is valued by her counselors. She is a hard worker and respects others when they demonstrate determination by trying new things and following through on promises made.
Peaker Julia brings this news article from the Point:
Energy filled the air at the Point as all campers came rolling into lazy morning breakfast. Everyone enjoyed the amazing Sunday breakfast of chocolate muffins, lucky charms, hot chocolate, and even rainbow bagels! As Peakers, we all went to lazy morning with the excitement of dressing up for campfire and the first Team Competition.
All of camp was ecstatic to be together as one camp. Everyone’s faces filled with smiles as we sat through an eventful morning campfire. After campfire, both team split into team meeting to cheer loudly and prepare for the track and field meet.
After a delicious lunch, campers tied their sneakers, grabbed their water bottles and got ready for track meet. The events had finally begun, everyone was cheering and competing all around camp. The track meet involved many different events, from long jumps on the beach to archery in the big soccer field. After a few hours of friendly competition the track meet had ended. Everyone’s mouths were watering waiting for Jimbo’s famous Point O’Pasta. Our busy Sunday was followed by a cozy movie night enjoyed by everyone around camp.
Community Spirit Camper of the Week for Community Spirit goes to a camper who builds up our community by bringing people together inside the age group and out. She embodies the idea of never leaving a camper behind. Her friendliness, thoughtfulness, and generosity contribute to our camp community and without her there would be a noticeable difference in the spirit of the age group.
This morning we gathered at the Arts and Crafts porch for our Sunday Awards Campfire. But wait!!! A 20 foot movie screen inflated in front of the campers and a newscast played telling us breaking news of a shipwreck on the beach. We rushed to the beach and found our Blue and White leaders who led their Peaker teammates in a sensational dance routine in front of the excited campers. The campers were assigned to the Blue or White teams and went off to team meetings to prepare for the beginning of team competition soon. I am sure the kids will be writing home about these exciting camp events soon! Check out the photo album when you log in!
