News From The Point

As our whole waterfront staff is gathered at camp training and getting ready for all of you, we are showing off our new Point O’Pines waterfront.  Many new dock sections have been assembled into two large shallow water areas for learning and fun, as well as two full high school or college pool size (called “SCY”) swim areas. Both competitive swim areas have eight lanes each, all with new lane lines, as well as new numbered regulation starting platforms.  Out past the swim lanes, we have our ample deep water swim area with the water trampoline and two floating docks.  We are so excited for all of you to get to camp and enjoy all that the waterfront has to offer.

We have been working for months getting the waterfront put together for you, from engineering drawings to the nuts and bolts.  We filmed part of the process over the last week or two and wanted to share it with you.  Make sure you thank our great maintenance staff when you get to camp!

Point O’Pines Camp for Girls is very excited to announce that we have been able to work with our neighbors over the winter to acquire an additional 100 acres adjacent to camp with about 1000 feet of additional shoreline of Brant Lake.  We will now be able to enjoy this gorgeous wooded area, and, more importantly, we and our community will also benefit by ensuring that these woods continue to be attractive and a great complement to our camp and the beauty of Brant Lake.  Our family has taken many hikes in these woods over the past few months and they are truly spectacular!  The new property is illustrated below in green.

Did you know that the Point O’Pines beach was the site of the Brant Lake Winter Carnival last weekend?  We were open to the public and worked with our friends, the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance and our beautiful Town of Horicon, to have all kinds of activities out on the ice for several hundred visitors.  Activities included sledding, ice bowling, curling with the Lake Placid Curling Club, broom-ball, a fry pan toss, and, the perennial fan favorite, the outhouse race (yes, that kind of outhouse).  It is a great way to support our great community and friends.  It was such fun, and a fantastic break from a long winter.  You can see more pictures in a great pictorial by Ashleigh Abreu in the Post-Star newspaper or on this album on the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance Facebook page.
