It was 7am when the sun was coming up over the lake and the mist was starting to lift upon a beautiful Point O’Pines morning. It was very calm on the lake but the silence was broken by the shouts and cheers of our girls working out at early bird swim practice. The Peakers were churning up the lake with a great early morning water ski session and every tennis court was buzzing with so many of the girls getting up early for special instruction and drills. Even some of the younger girls were jogging about camp with their counselors and Area Heads. Early mornings at the Point are truly remarkable.

Vegetarian Food at the Point
We have an increasing number of campers and staff who follow a healthy vegetarian diet. Often, they come to camp for the first time wondering if we can fill the bill for them. We always have delicious choices for all our girls. Salads galore, eggplant dishes and grilled vegetables with virgin olive oil or fresh hummus. Great vegetarian dishes sometime just need that extra flavor and complexity that marinated or grilled vegetables deliver. We want the dishes to be interesting and exciting to eat. Our vegetarians seem to love all the choices.
First Campfire
Last night we wished in a new summer at our first campfire. This traditional beginning of camp adds the warm wishes we made at the end of camp last summer, with wishes made on the wish sticks at the campfire to the flames. For the second year we also heard many wonderful wishes from alumnae that we added to the flames as well. Our blue and white team captains and lieutenants lit the torches of spirit, friendship, loyalty and beauty, and we heard songs sung by our Peakers as we watched the sun set over the mountains.
