Campers enter Banquet 2018

Banquet 2018 was a Journey to the Stars, piloted by the great Peak of 2018.  Peak 2018 has amazed us all summer with their fine sportsmanship and warm relationship with all the younger campers.  Tonight they brought the summer to a crescendo with an epic banquet. They will always have a place amongst the stars, and in our hearts.

Banquet is also the time to recognize the truly outstanding campers with awards both for this year and for their entire history at Point O’Pines Camp. We are so very proud of them and hope you will be too.

Thank you Peakers for leading camp in a really superb Team Competition. Both teams played so well, so hard and showed sportsmanship we were so proud of. This summer the winner is…Blue!

Button Designs 2017 and 2018

Collecting each year’s button from the five year campfire is a tradition at Point O’ Pines since at least 1989. Campers love to clip them on their jackets or camera straps to show the many years they’ve been at the Point. Our campers actually get to make designs for the button each summer down at Arts and Crafts. “The winning of the design made me learn to believe in myself…I can have a memory that will last a lifetime”, says last year’s button designer, Alex. The designer of this year’s button, Phoebe, shared, “I was really proud of myself to see my design. I really like it.” We love creative fun at camp and are so proud of all the talented designers who designed buttons. What will next year’s design look like?

Alumnae, how many of these do you have at home?

Families enjoy visiting day.

Thank you, parents for giving your girls a great weekend.  Everyone loved showing off bunks, skills, friends and fun.  We had some spectacular weather to show off all we have learned, and we hope you all had as much fun as we did.

Today we continued our summer fun with a busy day of team competition at tennis and team sports.  There were cheers, games and superb sportsmanship all over camp.

Thanks again for making visiting weekend such a great experience for all of us!

As parents, what we really want is a future where our kids are happy and can achieve their goals. We look for the very best schools, help the kids with their homework, and expose them to engaging cultural experiences. School builds a strong foundation of knowledge, but their bright future requires more.

Camp is not just for the fun of it, it is an experience that complements education in school. School excels, of course, with facts and traditional subject matter, while Camp excels at providing skills for life, learning and creativity. When kids get out of the classroom and into the bunk they are collaborating, communicating and solving problems. These are skills for the future that adults rely on every day in the office, and again when we get home. Camp activities and events are built around creativity, flexibility, initiative and leadership. All these learning experiences are firmly embedded in every day of fun with friends.

Every year we think of new fun for their summer, but we are also creating opportunities for growth in every corner of camp. There are just so many reasons we really love camp!

How great is an experience that kids love, and yet is a vital learning experience that prepares our children for a bright future. They win, we all win.
