Today is quite a sad day here at the Point. Today was spent packing and
preparing for the trip home. It's hard to believe that the summer is actually
over and that it is time to leave our summer home once again. The Last Campfire
tonight was filled with amazing speeches, bunk wishes, Peaker time capsule revealing
and the lighting of the POP 2010 sign. This summer has brought many memories for our campers
and never will it be forgotten. Here at the Point, as Sherie and Erin said, you must say goodbye
in order to say hello again.
|
The morning started out with the announcement of the winner of the summer.
As the room quieted, Jim made the announcement. The winner of the 2010 Summer
is White. Both teams did such an amazing job this summer.
Tonight we enjoyed the annual Banquet. This year's theme was The Game of Life.
As we walked into main house, we were greeted by the different levels of the game
put on by each Peaker. The food was amazing and everyone had such a good time.
Towards the end of the evening we had the announcement of the awards. Camper of the
year this year went to Peaker Emily. Congratulations to all the girls. This has been
one amazing summer!
|
Songs poured from the Boathouse and tears came on main lawn, tonight
was Team Sing. Even a little rain couldn't hold the Peakers back as they marched
in with the teams ready for Team Sing. The songs by everyone were beautiful
and everyone sounded amazing. The Captains and Lieutenants did an amazing
job directing their teams not only throughout the whole summer, but have worked
hard and made this team sing amazing. The winner of the 2010 Team Sing was Blue.
After the winner was announced the we enjoyed a spectacular display of fireworks on
the beach.
Earlier in the day we enjoyed excellent performances by campers in our annual
Gymnastics Show. Wow, the level of skill of our gymnasts was spectacular.
|
Today was the staff Wacked Up Relay, Red vs. Green. The staff
competed in the same event that the campers enjoyed this past Sunday.
The Peakers and Seniors ran the events and helped to make
everything work together. This year the Red Team won but
only barely. The relay was close the entire time and all
it came down to was the Can Stacking event. But Red pulled off
the victory and took the win for another year. To wrap up our
night it was the Upper Camp Dance Show. There were many great
numbers and the theme of the show was Night at the Circus.
|
Whistles pierced the morning air, as all of the bunks were woke up by the Seniors.
Today was Senior Takeover, a morning where the Seniors takeover the duties of counselors
and the Peakers take on the position of the Head Staff. The campers were marched around
and then taken to breakfast. There was a super clean up of the bunks, which was supervised
by the Seniors. Then first period was taught by the Peakers. It was a fun morning for all
the age groups. Tonight's evening activity was the Inter A Play. This play was full of lots
of hillbillies and even a dragon. The girls did wonderful and this was such a great play to
wrap up the theatre's summer.
|
The Peakers were missed this morning while they attended a very special
breakfast with Jim, Sue, Brandon and Caressa, and this afternoon the Junior B, Inter A, and
Inter B horseback riders headed to the farm to exhibit their talents
in a Horse Show. After the ever-loved Cookout Dinner, the girls gathered in the
Rec Hall to enjoy the Film Festival and Upper Camp Talent Show. It was a
lovely day at the Point.

They enjoyed hanging with the Brant Lake boys on the beach and then finished the
night with s'mores. This was a great night here at the Point.

Tonight was an amazing Senior Night full of lovely singing
and fun acting. The girls performed well. The Senior Night was

Dance Show. This year was A Day at the Circus. There were many
dances performed and such amazing talent displayed.

What a beautiful day here at the Point. The skies were blue as blue can get
and the girls were so happy for such a lovely day. Today the Inter A's left for
Great Escape, while the rest of camp enjoyed camp. Tonight was the Jr B play.
This play was a fish-filled one with a lovely ending. The girls
did such a fabulous job and had camp singing all the way to evening snack.
|
26 flavors! That's how many different flavors of ice cream that
were avaliable tonight for our famous Ice Cream Dream. The campers
went around to 26 different stations and tasted ice cream. Then as a
bunk they had to figure out the flavor and then write something fun and
epic about each one. The girls enjoyed every minute of this activity and
certainly all the flavors. It was a sugary goodness night here at the Point!
|
Tonight at the Point was exciting for all as we gathered in the Rec Hall
for POP Idol and Minute to Win It Finals.
Everyone waited anxiously as four finalists went head-to-head in the final
elimination rounds for Minute to Win It. Next came POP Idol. Our
famous judges returned to the stage once again as The Mathletes, Latin Love, Megan,
The Choir Girls, and the Tennis Boys showed what they had to offer one last time this summer.
Once again the Tennis Boys were crowned the champions. The girls were treated to a
nice evening snack to end a lovely summer day, watermelon.
|
Today was a special day here at Point O'Pines. Not only was it alumnae
day but today we also celebrated the 30 years that Sherie has been at
the Point. The campers, alumnae and staff lined the entrance way with
the many faces of Sherie. Each age group held up a picture of her from
when she was their ages. Then Sherie was escorted down the entrance by Jim
to the campers singing the "Sherie Song" and Sherie saying "It's like
watching myself grow up". At the end of the driveway stood a chair and
with a tiara and a sash declaring Sherie POP Queen. Tonight's campfire
was a special one just for Sherie. There were alumnae, staff, peakers
and even Sherie's sister who spoke and told Sherie of the wonderful job
that she has been doing these past 30 years. We wish Sherie the best next
30 years living out her dreams here at the Point!
|
The buses brought the campers out to the farm this evening for a night with horses,
hay rides and s'mores. Tonight's evening activity was Farm Night. The girls watched
the drill team perform with the horses to beginning the evening. After the show was

|
What a beautiful start to the morning today. Today was the big
HHHN Care For Kids 5k Race. There were over 160 people from Point O'Pines that
participated in this race to support our local Hudson Headwaters Health Network pediatric health program. It was such a joy to see all of
our amazing campers and counselors finish the race and to have
achieved this honor. Today was also the Scavenger Hunt. The girls
had to go in search of different items all around the bunks. It
was a sight to see how the girls interpreted the list.
|
What a great day today was here at the Point. It was a brisk
and fun day. The girls are beginning to work towards team
sing and will soon be having team sing practices. Today there
were many girls that were practicing their final runs for the
big 5k race tomorrow morning. There are almost 170 people from
the Point that are participating in it. We also had quite the
abundant evening. Tonight’s evening activity was the Ti/Jr A
play. This play really showcased how talented our younger campers
really are. This play was all about traveling and the people along
the way. They did a fabulous job. To end the night we had a lovely
sunset with just the right amount of brisk air to it!
|
An absolutely fabulous day was perfect for visiting grandparents. They
loved seeing the campers, getting tours of camp and watching activities
before joining us for lunch. We loved seeing them today! This afternoon
saw some of our normal activites and a very special field hockey clinic at
Coaches' Corner. Tonight the Subs led us on a music-themed “iSubs” game all
around camp for Sub Night. Great Job, Subbies!
|
Today while others enjoyed the wonderful day doing their activities at
camp, the Ti's and Junior loved the weather for their day at
The Great Escape. The Junior B's, Inter B's and Subs
also enjoyed a friendly tennis match against Camp Walden. This evening as
the Seniors and Peakers returned from their trip to Maine and Vermont,
all of camp gathered in the Rec Hall for the lower camp Talent Show. There
was singing, dancing, gymnastics, karate, and a song written and
performed by one of our very own Junior B's. Point O'Pines certainly
does have some strong and talented young ladies.
|
Tonights evening activity brought us Gold Rush. This year's Gold Rush
was themed in the Jungle. The counselors were dressed up as different animals
and the Inter B's were the tourists, explorers and guides. There were robbers
who tried to steal the gold from each of the groups as the girls screamed to be
saved. It was a wet and fun night here at the Point!

Today was Upper Camp Visiting Day. The day was a beautiful one
that had families and campers enjoying many of the activities
all around camp. There were many campers that wanted to show
off their skiing skills and headed to the beach to do so. After
visiting day ended and the parents headed off, the campers enjoyed
a camp-wide water fight with each other as well as their counselors.
Everyone was soaked and laughing. Tonight's evening activity was
the Senior House Play. This play brought many laughs and showed forth
the great talent amongst our oldest campers. What a great way to end
the day!
|
Today was Lower Camp Visiting Day. It was such a wonderful sight
to see the parents go running towards their children and bring them
into their arms. The campers and their families went around to
different areas to showcase their activities. It was so great
to see the campers interact with their parents and really get
into participating together in these activities. After the parents
left, the girls enjoyed some bunk games. Tonight's evening activity
was a team competition event. The event was the Camp Trivia. The girls
split into their teams and competed to answer questions about
all the happenings, history and life of camp. There was so much
cheering and the girls had a blast!
|
Everyone in camp is eagerly preparing for visiting day. The campers could barely
hold their excitement as the day's activities came to a close. For the last few days
every bunk has had a countdown to the day they get to
see their parents. Today the campers changed those signs
to “1 day until visiting day,” and the camp filled with shrieks and shrills.
For tonight's evening activity the girls excitedly
put on their favorite tunes, armed themselves with mops and brooms,
and did one big clean up before their parents arrive. Everyone danced, smiled,
and exchanged organizational tips as every bunk did the final preparations for
the weekend ahead.
|
Today started out with lots of sunshine and happy faces here at camp.
With the wind working in our favor, the campers at sail had a blast
sailing. At tennis the girls have been working on their skills not
only in individual lessons but also playing matches against each
other. It's great to hear a nice clean hit of the ball between the
girls. Tonight's evening activity was the 5 Year Campfire. With tears
and even some laughs, some of the older campers presented speeches
on what their view of the Point is and what makes it so special.
Each of the campers and staff that have been here 5 years or more
received sweatshirts for their time here. There was one camper who
received her 9-Year jacket. She is the camper that has been here
since she was young. The speeches were beautiful and brought many
tears. Sherie also received a great honor tonight for being at the
Point for 30 years. It is so wonderful to have all these amazing
campers and staff here year after year, they are really what makes
the Point.
|
What a beautiful day it was here at the Point! The activities were filled
with so many faces today. In photo today the girls worked on in-studio portraits.

many acts that brought giggles to each of the campers. In the end the winners were the grandma's.
|
Tonight was round two of Minute to Win It. The campers
headed off into the Rec Hall for another round and to try and move on
to the finale. At this point in the game 3 of the 4 teams are tied for
first place. The girls had an absolute blast with this activity. They were
stacking cups, sorting M&M's, putting together a puzzle and even trying to
keep two balloons in the air. What a fun night! We look forward to the finale
to determine a winner.
|
What an eventful day we had here at the Point! Today was the
aquatics meet. The first event of the day was skiing around
the lake. There were 3 campers from each team that skied
on one ski around the lake. Every girl got up and made it
completely around the lake. They did such an amazing job. The afternoon
was spent at boating and canoeing, sailing and relays. The afternoon
was full of cheering and friendly competition.
|
We saw the sun shine brightly to wake us from our sleep today.
The day was a warm one and the girls enjoyed it to the best extent.
At Arts and Crafts the girls worked outside on the porch doing some
paper mache. This was one messy project and the girls giggled and
had fun the whole way through. At Team Sports today there were a variety
of activities going on including field hockey and some volleyball. After
all the activities were done for the day and dinner was consumed, the girls
headed off to the Rec Hall to enjoy the Inter B play. Tonight's play
was awesome. The girls showed some amazing talent and worked hard to
make the play an experience.
|
Tonight was the ever famous Murder at the Point. This was a huge game of
Clue that took place all around camp. The girls went with their bunks
to different areas around camp trying to figure who did it. The girls ran
screaming to all the locations trying to figure out the mystery. Bunk 10
was the winner and received evening snack first. What a fun night here at the Point!
|
The Junior A's, Junior B's, and Inter A's did great in their tennis tournament today.
The excitement continued as the event was followed by the ever-loved Cookout Dinner. Then the counselors
rocked the stage with the Point's personal POP-Idol complete with our very own panel
of judges: Randy, Ellen, Kara, and the always
truthful Simon, also know as, Pepe, Abraham, Margaux, and Paul.
Everyone had a great time, and the five finalists will compete again later this summer.
|
The day here at the Point was a day of fun. Tonight was Western Night. The
girls had their dinner down on the beach under the setting sun.
The dinner was complete with fried chicken, corn on the cob,
a variety of salads, and even some steaks and other items sliced to order
right off the grill. The night was then completed with
some square dancing and music in the Rec Hall. The girls had a lot of fun!

There were many activities that were going on today at the Point.
There was a swim meet today at Raquette Lake as well as a softball
meet at Echo Lake. The girls came back to camp in happy spirits from
their hard day and first place in softball. The day here
at the Point was spent in activities. There were many campers that went
to arts and crafts today. The girls were working on tye-dying t-shirts. They
were all hung out to dry on the arts and crafts porch and really made the building
look colorful. In photo this week, the girls are teaching their eyes to see
letters and shapes in nature. The campers also really enjoyed cooking today
as they made sugar cookies. The smells from the cooking kitchen were divine.
We ended the day with a beautiful sunset over the lake!
|
Today the sun shone brightly and the weather was fabulous. The

parts of camp to do events such as the hammer throw, soccer kicks, sit-ups, archery
and even a 50 yard dash. The girls traveled to each activity as an age group
and competed for their colors. They did an awesome job and worked hard. Tonight
we added a new activity to our schedules, the Iron Chef competition with the Subs.
This activity will be a competition between Sherie and Jim with the Subs being the
taste testers. Tonight Chef de Cuisine Sherie and table decorator Amanda worked hard
to create a meal that Bunk 28 would remember. Bunk 28 were our first taste testers for
a fabulous meal cooked up by Sherie. The tables came complete with individual table settings
of flowers as the decorations. The meal was topped off with the specialty “Sub-nana's Foster”.

There was a little bit of a cool down today from the warm weather.
With the breeze blowing, we saw campers out enjoying some soccer
during Coaches Corner as well as a nice run with the Fitness staff.
Tennis today had a lower camp tennis tournament. The girls were very
determined to do well and they did. Tonight for evening activity
was the famous Point O'Pines game Whisper Down the Lane.
The girls were given a phrase and had to whisper it down the lane and the
person at the end had to write what they heard. It provided some
great laughs for the campers and the staff as well.
|
With the warm weather, the waterfront was a popular place to stay cool all day.
Around camp water was certainly not in short supply; everywhere you
looked, there was playing in sprinklers, games of Drip, Drip, Drop, and lots and lots
of water bottles. The Seniors got to enjoy their exciting adventure to The Great Escape (with water breaks between rides).
Campers were very excited because today was Thursday and that means Cookout Night.
After we finished our famous burgers and hot dogs, we headed to the Rec Hall for Name That Tune.
Tonight the Green Team was victorious, with the staff's Black Team falling into last place.
|
Today was Point O'Ritz. After rest period all of the bunks spent
time picking out a bunk theme and then visiting arts and crafts
to put together costumes for the night. Point O'Ritz is an event
put on by the Seniors and the Peakers serve the meal. This year's
theme was Forever Young. The Seniors wanted to convey memories of
what you dreamed you wanted to be when you were young. Each group
of Seniors then walked down the Senior House stairs in their costumes.
The costumes were awesome this year and really conveyed a sense of
always staying young, forever young. After dinner the evening activity
was a show that the staff put on. There were singing talents as well as
some dance and gymnastics. We also had a great surprise from the Tennis
staff and Erin. Tonight was an amazing night here at the Point.

in the Rec Hall. The winners got to head to evening snack first. Today,
though hot, was a wonderful day!
|
Monday morning, here at the Point, started out with the sun shining brightly over
the Adirondacks. Today was a warm day here at the camp as the campers played and
had fun. Tonight the Upper camp campers enjoyed the waterfront for a great cooling

one of the waterfront, while the Peakers rode the Banana Boat all around the lake.
Laughter certainly filled the air as everyone splashed and played. The Lower Camp
campers headed off to see Shrek tonight at the theaters. Everyone had a fantastic
day today. The sun set over the Adirondacks beautifully tonight.
|
Today was our first day of team competition here at the Point. We started the morning
out with a lazy morning. After the campers had their breakfast they departed back
to their bunks until the time of campfire. Our first campfire had the theme of
friendliness and a camper from each age group was honored as Camper of the Week.
There were many other awards that were also given out from
almost every specialty area. After lunch and rest period, team meetings began
and they decided who would participate in the different activities of this week's
team competition, the swim meet. The girls all did amazingly well in the swim meet this afternoon,
and really enjoyed the cooling off in the water. What a great Sunday we had here at
Point!
|
Today at the Point was a wonderful day. Waterfront was filled with campers
cooling off in the lake and enjoying sailing as well as boating and canoeing.
Photography today took the students around camp getting them used to using their
cameras and checking out different settings. The students took pictures of campers
around all the activities as well as learned all about exposure. In cook today they
made brownie pizza. The pizza came complete with frosting as the sauce and white
chocolate as the cheese. It was so delicious. Tonight's evening activity was a new
one for camp, based on the television show Minute to Win It. Each of the
teams had to complete certain tasks in a minute. This evening activity was a big
hit with everyone and will definitely be returning later this summer.
|
Today at the Point the sun shone brightly over the hills of the Adirondacks.
All of the campers enjoyed a day filled with activities. The Peakers'
basketball team headed to Echo Lake for a tournament, while the rest
of camp enjoyed the activities of camp. This evening the activity was
scheduled to be Whisper Down the Lane, but surprise! It was Breakout
2010. The theme this year was Welcome to the Dollhouse. The captains
and lieutenants were dolls on a string that were then cut down by their
advisors, then joined the other Peakers to show the camp their Peak
Breakout dance. The camp was split into teams of blue and white.
These will be the team competition teams for
the summer, and at the end of the summer a winner will be determined.
All the campers were so excited and screamed their enthusiasm for Breakout.
|
Today was full of activities all around camp. Our whole Ti group

answer questions by spelling out the correct answer.
It was a great day here at the Point!
|
Today was a bit chilly here at the Point, but the girls participated
in every activity. Some of our Junior A's had the first overnight to the farm tonight.
The girls ate food cooked over the fire, drank hot chocolate and even made s'mores.
Those girls are now snug in the sleeping bags out at the farm. The rest of lower camp
participated in the Counselor Hunt. They had to search for counselors who were
hiding all around camp and then bring them in to score points.
The girls ran and screamed and found almost every
counselor. Even though today was a bit chilly, we had lots of fun!
|
Today at the Point was an activity filled day. Every camper started their
full scheduled classes today. Waterfront was filled with many splashes and even
some campers jumping off the aqua jump. Arts and Crafts had many visitors coming

famous Aunt Emma's Auction. The girls came decked in every bit of crazy clothing
they could think of and worked hard to win.
Today was quite the fun-filled day here at the Point.
|
Tonight was the first camp fire of the season. The evening dawned as
the torches of spirit, friendship, loyalty and beauty were lit by the
captains and lieutenants of the blue and white team. The wish sticks
were then passed around the circle as each camper made a wish for the
summer, a wish for camp and for each other. The wish sticks then were gathered
and put into the fire to be brought alive. These wishes were combined with the
wishes of the past (the ashes from the last year and the last campfire). The night
ended in thoughtful silence for summer to come.
|
Today was the first day of camp here at The Point. The day was filled with lots
of laughter and smiles as the girls went to activities and caught up with each
other about the past year. Tonight was also Election Night for the elections
of the captains and lieutenants of the blue and white team. The night began

The day has arrived and so have the campers. Point O'Pines 2010
camp season has officially begun. The girls all arrived this afternoon
with smiles on their faces and shouts from the buses. So many of the
girls are so excited to be here and we were all overjoyed to see them.
Tonight we had the counselor show. This was to display and present the girls with
their counselors for the 2010 camp year. The girls are now all snug in their beds
to rest up for tomorrow's activities. It is so good to have the Point full of our
girls again.
|
This week at the Point we are preparing for your arrival.
On Saturday, the rest of the staff arrived and it felt like
camp was even closer to starting. Staff orientation this year began
with our very own breakout and the staff being split into eight teams.
The Area Heads led each of the teams.
For the next two days we competed for points through many activities
including a Take the Challenge game and Name That Tune game.
The Staff Blue Team won the competition on Monday night.
We are excitedly preparing for your arrival and are anxious to see you
all so soon. Your counselors are preparing your bunks for your arrival.
The weather has been sunny and glorious. Just a few more days,
and you will be here too.
|
As the sun shines down on the Point and the mountains, activity
around camp is beginning to buzz. This week the Waterfront, WAD, Fitness,
and some other staff arrived. These staff members have
been training and taking their courses in CPR and lifeguarding to
be ready for the summer. The Horseback Riding instructors have
already been here for about 3 weeks working with the horses,
and getting them all ready for everyone to arrive in just a few days.
Next week, the rest of the staff arrives. The camp is looking green
and beautiful, and we are all getting excited to have the dining
hall filled with singing again. What an awesome summer we are going
to have at the Point!
|
The Seniors of 2009 visited camp this past weekend to begin to plan some
of their special events for the summer of 2010. It was a great weekend filled
with special winter activities including winter tennis and swimming! We also
had a campfire circle meeting where the winter Camper of the Week
was announced! Take a look at some of the wonderful
moments from the weekend (2009
Photo Album). It was so exciting to share the weekend with some of our
Point O'Pines family. We can't wait to see all of you soon and we are counting
the
days until the summer of 2010!
|

no longer here for the summer. We hope to see you sometime very soon.
Know that the Point will always be your home. Staff: We

We were so happy to get together with so many of our summer family members
at our 2009 reunion today! It was great seeing all of your smiling faces
and celebrating the wonderful memories from the summer of 2009. We also want
to say a special thank you to the 2009 Peakers for being such outstanding
role
models
for all of our campers. We love you and will miss you terribly next summer!
Take a look at the photos from the reunion on the 2009
Photo Album. Best wishes to you and your families for a wonderful holiday
season!
