Thank you to all of our 2009 campers and staff for helping to create another
wonderful Point O'Pines summer. We especially want to thank the amazing Peak
of 2009. You are an outstanding group of young women and we will miss you
terribly. We love you all!!

It was the last full day of the 2009 summer. It was another perfect Adirondack
day. The girls were busy packing, writing bus notes, writing letters for
time capsules, creating their bunk plaques and playing tennis for one last
time. Tonight was our traditional Last Campfire. Each bunk shared their wishes
for future Point O'Pines campers and the Peakers read their time capsules
from their first summers at Point O'Pines. Then each camper lit their wish
boat and sent it into the lake as we said goodbye to the summer of 2009.
After taps, the girls went back to their bunks for bunk parties. Jim surprised
each bunk with a pizza delivery. The Peakers went to night tennis and hit
their "Last Ball" under a beautiful, star-filled sky. It was a
wonderful night and superb summer. We will all be so sad to say good-bye
tomorrow morning.
|
The girls came to breakfast dressed in their Team Sing clothes from last
night. They do this for good luck - as the winner of team competition was
announced at breakfast this morning. The team competition this year was wonderful.
Throughout the summer the Blue and White teams went back and forth in the
lead, but in the end, the Blue Team won the summer. It was such a great summer
for team competition. The 2009 Peakers were exceptional leaders and all of
the girls had a wonderful time. After the final team meetings most of camp
began their last day of regular activity while the Peakers began setting
up for their Banquet. Banquet was absolutely amazing! After a summer of hard
work, the Peakers surprised camp with their fabulous and creative "A
World of Pure Imagination" Banquet.
Every aspect of the night from the entrance to murals to the decorations
and the skits was fantastic! What a wonderful
night!
|
It was a very busy day at the Point. After a wonderful made to order omelet
breakfast, the girls had their last team sing practice. Later in the day,
we had our Gymnastics show. The girls were absolutely fantastic! Their dedication
and effort throughout the summer was evident in their amazing performance.
After the traditional silent dinner before Team Sing, the Blue and White
Teams lined up on the road awaiting their entrance to Team Sing. Team Sing
was truly phenomenal! Both teams sang beautifully and it was a very close
competition; however, the White Team won 2009 Team Sing. We ended the night
with a wonderful fireworks display - what a beautiful night!
|
This morning had much excitement in the air as today is Wacked Up Relay and
the staff Red and Green competition. Team Sing practices ran all morning
in preparation for the event tomorrow. Everyone came dressed up with team
spirit, and the Senior House campers ran
the
Red and Green
relay
and the
staff
showed great
team spirit. Blue Won the Wacked Up, and Red the staff relay! Tonight there
was a Dance show, and our campers and staff really showed us their best moves!
|
This morning began with STO! We all awoke to Senior House taking over camp.
The seniors took the place of the in bunk counselors while the Peakers became
the head staff. The campers loved this change of pace and had a great time.
After STO, everyone went to Team Sing practices, and are getting ready for
the competition. Tonight, the Inter A campers wowed us with their rendition
of "Mary Poppins." We sure do have a lot of stars on our stage!
|
Today was another great day at the Point! This morning, the Peakers went
to breakfast at Suzie Q's with Sue and Jim. Activities were fun, and Team
Sing practices are going very well. This afternoon started the Horse Show
and many girls were at the farm competing in different
events - it was a beautiful day for
riding! After a cookout dinner, campers went to Film Festival and had popcorn
in their pj's, while watching movies made by our very own campers and future
filmmakers! It was so much fun! - By Peaker Ali F.
|
It was another beautiful Adirondack day. This morning at breakfast was breakout
for Senior Night. The excitement that was in the dining room was felt around
camp all day. Everyone had lots of fun in their activities, and the Subs
went on a hike to Snow Mountain. At lunch, we did breakout for Red and Green,
so all the staff is excited to see what they get to do in the relay. It was
a warm day and everyone made sure to drink lots
of
water.
The Senior
Night theme was "Mamma Mia", and the girls did a wonderful job!
All their hard work paid off with a great performance to end a fantastic
POP day.
|
We woke up this morning to a gorgeous Adirondack morning. It was cool enough
to wear sweatshirts and everyone slept soundly in the cool weather after
a late night with DJ Jeff. Camp was bustling with activity. Tennis was busy
as was the waterfront - everyone is trying to fit in their favorite activities
as camp winds down. Tonight the older girls had socials with Brant Lake,
and had a blast!
|
Today was a beautiful day at POP! We were expecting storms, but they never
came our way. We started this morning with a breakout for Carnival! This
morning was filled with regular activities, and team sing practice. This
afternoon, the girls visited all of the carnival booths and had a amazing

we had our annual DJ Jeff Dance Party. It is a great time for the girls to
have a carefree dance party with their camp friends - it was a wonderful
night!

We couldn't ask for better camp weather. The crisp, cool evenings and the
warm, sunny days set a wonderful scene for camp. This morning we had campfire,
and 50 yard dash competitions in the afternoon. Tonight's activity ws the
Dance Show "Fuse da Funk", and all of camp was amazed by the talent that
was on the stage tonight. Great job to the choreographers as well who did
an amazing job putting it together! Everyone is excitedly anticipating
the special events that are coming up over
the
next
week.
|
The Point was full of energy today as the girls are trying to fit in as much
activity as possible. Again, the waterfront was a very popular place to
be! Everyone is loving all of their activities and learning so many new things.
They are also enjoying team sing practices, and learning all of the songs that
they will compete with soon. Tonight, the Jr Bs amazed us with their talents
and it was a great night for
the
2009
Theatre
Program.
|
It was hot today at POP!! The waterfront was very popular today. Between
scheduled swim and SSBC, fitness classes and coaches corner, many campers
were in the water for two or three periods today. Tonight was
Farm Night! Our horseback riding drill team performed and afterwards the

|
What a beautiful POP Day! Our Tis and Jr As headed off on the bus this
morning for Great Escape, while the rest of camp enjoyed the beautiful
weather
they had for their activities. Team sing practices are underway, and everyone
is learning their songs very quickly! Tonight was the Upper Camp Talent
Show, and there certainly were some very talented campers in this bunch!
From a saxophone to the sister song & dance, to guitar playing and much
more, we have such an amazing group of girls!
|
Today was full of excitement and surprise. The morning schedule was regular
activities and Team Sing practice, then before lunch started our Alumni Day.
Many Peaker Alumnae from recent years came and it was so good to see all
of their faces again here at camp! At Lunch, Sue and Jim were surprised with
their son and his family flown in from across the country. Many other special
guests including Hoby, the original owner of the camp, made appearances
throughout the day. The afternoon was full of excitement because we had Team
Competition
- Swim to
Schultz's.
The qualifying swimmers have worked so hard for this day, and everyone came
in with great times! Tonight's evening activity was a special campfire dedicated
to Sue and Jim with many surprise guests giving speeches and memories from
the last 25 years. What a great day!
|
We woke up this morning to a gorgeous Adirondack morning. It was cool enough
to wear sweatshirts and everyone slept soundly last night.
Camp was bustling with activity. Tennis was busy as was the waterfront. Our
subs arrived back from Lake Placid just in time for Ice Cream
Dream, a camper favorite! Everyone got to try lots of different
flavors,
and the Peakers and staff served it
up. It was another great night at POP!
|
Our Subs left today for Lake Placid, and everyone else in camp is enjoying
the nice weather and their activities. Tonight's evening activity was "Murder
at the Point".
This activity is a life size murder mystery game where the camp tries
to find out where the crime took place, who committed the crime and what
weapon was used. The Ti and Junior A campers have been busy making outfits
in Arts and Crafts for this special night. The girls had a wonderful time
at this great evening activity, look at the pictures and see for yourself!
|
|
We had an early start this morning for the 5K run to benefit pediatric
health care for the Hudson Headwaters Health Network. We had over 160 campers
participate in the run and it was a wonderful event. We had quite a few
runners who received 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals for their age groups.
You can see how your daughter ran by taking a looking at the race
results. After the race
we had our Sunday morning campfire followed team meetings to organize the
Team Competition
Swim Meet. Today was also Grandparent's Visiting day and many campers were
able to see their families. It rained for the afternoon so we weren't able
to finish the meet. After an amazing Point O'Pasta dinner, most of the
girls had movie night while
the
Seniors
and
Peakers worked on special events and the Subs packed for their Lake Placid
trip tomorrow.
|
The sun greeted us this morning and we had a wonderful day at the Point.
The Tis and Jr As were the stars tonight as they dazzled us with their 80's
themed show on the POP stage. There is so much energy and talent in this
group - it was a wonderful
performance!
Camp is quiet tonight as many campers will be rising early to participate
in the Hudson Headwaters Care for Kids 5K Run tomorrow. We are hoping for
great running weather!

It was a beautiful day at Point O'Pines. The Tis and Jr As were busy preparing

|
We have had a great string of beautiful dry Adirondack days this morning
was no exception. During the day at
camp, field hockey and soccer were highlights of our team sports department
with many laughs and plenty of excitement. Many campers enjoyed running
and step aerobics, and our ski boats were running constantly beginning
with early bird ski at 7am. Some of the younger campers took full advantage
of the larger number of campers out on trips and had private skill instruction
all over camp, and many opportunities to ride the banana boat. The rain
started this afternoon, and went straight through to the evening, so there
were many indoor activities running. Our evening highlight was Gold Rush,
an activity prepared for camp by the Inter
Bs.
This is the first step in preparing this group for future responsibilies
as Upper Camp. We were very proud of the fine job they did.
|
Another fun day at Point O'Pines! We missed our Seniors and Peakers who are
away on their Boston Trip and having a blast. We had lots of excitement here
in camp as our Juniors played in an inter-camp softball tournament hosted
by POP. Everyone else enjoyed their regular activities. The waterfront was
the place to be because it was so warm. Tonight, we have lots of excitement
with the visit to POP of the entertainment group
Unique
Entertainment,
who
our
campers
love.
It has been another great day at the Point.
|
Today was a beautiful summer day at the Point. Our Seniors and Peakers departed
camp this morning, to the cheers of the younger girls, on their way to Boston
to begin their bonding trip. Our younger
campers participated in the Point O'Pines invitational soccer day where everyone
joined in an exciting series of matches enjoyed by players and spectators
alike. The afternoon brought us to 50's Night where the outfits were just
so much fun and all enjoyed our MacPoint menu of old fashioned drive-in food
prepared by our foodservice staff and served outside on the beach. The evening
activity was 50's style games such as limbo, hop scotch and some really funny
antics put on by campers and counselors alike. Wow - what a day.

words that many shared tonight were quite profound. It was a perfect
night at Point O'Pines.

The day started off nice and sunny, but turned to rain in the afternoon into
the evening, so everyone enjoyed some indoor activities and Game Night. The
