It was so hard saying goodbye to our summer family this morning. The Point
is very quiet and we miss all of you so much. Thank you to all of our 2008
campers and staff for helping to create another
wonderful Point O'Pines summer. We especially want to thank the amazing Peak
of 2008. You are an outstanding group of young women and we will miss you
terribly. We love you all!!
|
It was the last full day of the 2008 summer. It was another perfect Adirondack
day. The girls were busy packing, writing bus notes, writing letters for
time capsules, creating their bunk plaques and playing tennis for one last
time. Tonight was our traditional Last Campfire. Each bunk shared their wishes
for future Point O'Pines campers and the Peakers read their time capsules
from their first summers at Point O'Pines. Then each camper lit their wish
boat and sent it into the lake as we said goodbye to the summer of 2008.
After taps, the girls went back to their bunks for bunk parties. Jim surprised
each bunk with a pizza delivery. The Peakers went to night tennis and hit
their "Last Ball" under a beautiful, star-filled sky. It was a
wonderful night and superb summer. We will all be so sad to say goodbye
tomorrow morning.
|
The girls came to breakfast dressed in their Team Sing clothes from last
night. They do this for good luck - as the winner of team competition was
announced at breakfast this morning. The team competition this year was wonderful.
Throughout the summer the Blue and White teams went back and forth in the
lead, but in the end, the WHITE Team won the summer. It was such a great
summer for team competition. The 2008 Peakers were exceptional leaders and
all of
the girls had a wonderful time. After the final team meetings most of camp
began their last day of regular activity while the Peakers began setting
up for their Banquet. Banquet was absolutely amazing! After a summer of hard
work, the Peakers surprised camp with their fabulous and creative "Graduation" Banquet.
Every aspect of the night from the entrance to murals to the decorations
and the skits was fantastic! What a wonderful
night!
|
It was a very busy day at the Point. After a wonderful made to order omelet
breakfast, the girls had their last team sing practice. Later in the day,
we had our Gymnastics show. The girls were absolutely fantastic! Their dedication
and effort throughout the summer was evident in their amazing performance.
After the traditional silent dinner before Team Sing, the Blue and White
Teams lined up on the road awaiting their entrance to Team Sing. Team Sing
was truly phenomenal! Both teams sang beautifully and it was a very close
competition; however, the White Team won 2008 Team Sing. We ended the night
with a wonderful fireworks display - what a beautiful night!
|
This morning began with STO! We all awoke to Senior House taking over camp.
The seniors took the place of the in bunk counselors while the Peakers became
the head staff. The campers loved this change of pace and had a great time.
After STO, preparation began for the camper Wacked up Relay and the Staff
Red and Green team competitions. All teams competed very well, but Blue won
for the campers, and Red won for the Staff. Then tonight for dinner we had
Point O'Pizza Party, and everyone went to bed full
and
happy!
|
The Point was full of energy today as the girls are trying to fit in as much
activity as possible before they leave! The Horse Show continued
today and many girls went to the farm to watch their friends compete. Tonight,
the Jr Bs amazed us with their talents and it was a great closing night for
the 2007 Theatre Program. The girls all went to sleep happy tonight, and
they will be surprised and excited to find seniors coming into their bunks
before
breakfast
as tomorrow
is STO
(Senior Take Over).
|
We had another great day at the Point! While the girls are still enjoying
their regular activities, they are also very busy preparing for Team Sing
and other special events. After morning team sing practice, the Captains,
Lieutenants, Advisors and our Music Director went for a special lunch at
a restaurant on Lake George. This special lunch is in recognition of the
hard work that has been put into the organization of Team Competition and
Team Sing throughout the summer. We began the Horse Show today and many girls
were at the farm competing in different events.
Tonight was upper camp talent show, and our girls showed us that they have
what it takes to be on the stage!
|
It was another rainy Adirondack day. This morning at breakfast was breakout
for Senior Night. The excitement that was in the dining room was felt around
camp all day.The Peakers slept in and then had their "Brunch with the
Bunch" at Suzie Q's with Sue and Jim. The Senior
Night theme was "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", and the girls did a
wonderful job! All their hard work paid off with a great performance to end
a fantastic
POP day.
|
It has been very rainy the last week, so today when we had a break in the
weather, everyone was very excited to do some activities. Today, the Inter

a double Team Sing practice this afternoon. Everyone is also excitedly anticipating
the special events that are coming up over
the
next
week. Tonight

We were expecting storms today, but we were lucky and they were only scattered
throughout the day. We started this morning with a breakout for Carnival!
This morning was filled
with regular
activities,
and
then double team sing practice in the afternoon. Then, the girls visited
all of the carnival booths and had a amazing time - take a look at all of
the
fun pictures on the photo album. Tonight
we had our annual DJ Jeff Dance Party. It is a great time for the girls to
have a carefree dance party with their camp friends - it was a wonderful
night!
|
|
It was a lazy morning at the Point! After the girls slept in and had breakfast
in pajamas, we had our Sunday morning campfire circle. Today's team competition
was rained out, so instead our groups worked on upcoming events, played
kickball in the rec hall, and had extra team sing practices. Tonight was
Viva la Fiesta, and our international campers and staff, together with the
kitchen, prepared an amazing meal for all of us to enjoy! It was quite a
night!
|
The sun greeted us this morning and we had a wonderful day at the Point.
Everyone was busy today with regular activities and Team Sing practices.
Tonight was the Inter A show "Oliver", and the girls were stars on the stage,
and dazzled us with their talents. Everyone had evening snack and then went
to bed to get ready for Team Competition tomorrow.
|
We had periods of rain throughout the day, but started our
morning off with Waterski Team Competition. The girls who competed
showed us some amazing tricks! The rest of the day was filled
with regular activities and Team Sing practices. This afternoon,
the Seniors and Peakers took buses to the movies, then the
Seniors went to dinner at Panera Bread, while the Peakers had
a pasta night at Suzie Q's. Tonight for evening activity, there
were boat rides, soccer team competition, and tennis.

down to Great Escape, while the rest of camp were in regular activities.
Tonight was Farm Night! Our horseback riding drill team performed and afterwards
our Tis, Jr As and Jr Bs took a hay wagon ride and made s'mores. We also
had Bunk Karaoke, where each bunk performed songs of their choice. It was
a great night!
|
Today started off as a very rainy morning, and was cool enough
to wear sweatshirts. After the rain stopped, all of camp met on the beach
to cheer on the swimmers as they swam out to Shultz's Island for
Team Competition. Tonight was Ice Cream Dream, a camper
favorite! Everyone got to try lots of different flavors, and the Peakers
and staff served it
up to all of camp. It was another great night at POP!
|
Today was the second day of 5 period schedule and Team Sing. Everyone was
out and having a great day in their activities. The Subs returned from a
great trip to Lake Placid and were excited to come back

with their creativity and they looked like they were born to be on stage!
The Dance staff did an amazing job, and their choreography was excellent!
Great job by all!
|
|
We had an early start this morning for the 5K run to benefit pediatric
health care for the Hudson Headwaters Health Network. We had over 160 campers
participate in the run and it was a wonderful event. We had quite a few
runners who received 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals for their age groups.
You can see how your daughter ran by taking a look at the link
to the race results. After the race we had our Sunday morning campfire
followed team meetings to organize the Team Competition Aquatics Meet.
It was a perfect day to be in the water. There wasn't a cloud in the sky
and
the
sun was shining all day. The girls had a great time. After an amazing Point
O'Pasta dinner, most of the girls had movie night while the Seniors and
Peakers worked on special events and the Subs packed for their Lake Placid

with the creativity and energy that the Subs brought to this wonderful event.

trip
and we are glad to have all of them back at camp. We ended the night with
Name that Tune, which is always entertaining! What a great day!
|
We have had a great string of beautiful dry Adirondack days and today was
no exception. All the girls were out enjoying their activities, and many
campers enjoyed running and step aerobics, and our ski boats were running
constantly
beginning
with early bird ski at 7am. Some of the younger campers took full advantage
of the larger number of campers out on trips and had private skill instruction
all over camp, and many opportunities to ride the banana boat. Our evening
highlight was Gold Rush, an activity prepared for camp by the Inter Bs.
This is the first step in preparing this group for future responsibilies
as Upper Camp. We were very proud of the fine job they did.
|
Another sunny day greeted us at Point O'Pines! We missed our Seniors and
Peakers who are away on their trip and having a blast. Our Subs had a full
day of activity and still found time to work on "secret stuff" for
their upcoming Sub-Night. We had a group of Jr As leave for the farm for
an overnight, and the rest of camp had lots of excitement with the visit
to POP of the entertainment group Unique Entertainment, who our campers love.
It has been another great day at the Point.
|
Today was a beautiful summer day at the Point. It started with a dense fog
over the lake which quickly burned off into a sunny warm and pleasant day.
Our Seniors and Peakers departed camp this morning, to the cheers of the
younger girls, on their way to Maine and Vermont to begin their bonding trip.
We hosted an invitational Junior soccer tournament, and our girls were stars
on the field. The afternoon brought us to 50's Night where the outfits were
just so much fun
and all
enjoyed
our
MacPoint
menu
of old
fashioned
drive-in
food
prepared by our foodservice staff and served outside on the beach. The evening
activity was 50's style games such as limbo, hop scotch and some really funny
antics put on by campers and counselors alike. The Inter Bs also had a social
with Winadu on the beach. Wow - what a day.

and parents to enjoy the activities around camp, and the girls enjoyed showing
you everything they have learned in the first half of camp. Tonight was the

light up the stage. The Seniors went for pizza after, and the Peakers went

cleaning for visiting day, and at their indoor activites again. They are
very excited to see all of you tomrrow, and can barely contain their excitement!
|
Today was a rainy day at POP, so the girls had a lot of fun doing
indoor activities such as making pinwheels in Arts and Crafts, kickball
in the rec hall, and reading in the library. Tonight we had our 5
Year Campfire......but because of the rain we held it in the rec
hall instead of the campfire circle so we all stayed dry. It was
an emotional time for our older girls as they read their speeches,
but ended on a positive note as they got their clothing.
|
Today all around camp, the girls were in their activities getting some last
minute instructions so they can show you everything they have learned so

great weather
on Friday
and
Saturday
for Visiting Day.
|
Today, after a lazy morning, we had our campfire circle in the rec hall and

day. We also had a chance to finish up our swim meet from the week before.

staying very active. They are just taking more water breaks than usual! We
had a group of older campers go to a tennis tournament today, and they did
a great job! Tonight's evening activity was "Murder
at the Point".
This evening activity is a life-size murder mystery game (like the board
game Clue) where the camp tries to find out where the crime took place, who
committed the
crime
and
what
weapon was used. The Ti and Junior A campers have been busy making outfits
in Arts and Crafts for this special night. The girls had a wonderful time
at this great evening activity, look at the pictures and see for yourself!
