Life at the Point

Why choose a traditional 8-week program?
A traditional camp season of eight weeks transforms camp from a simple daily schedule of activities into an experience of lasting friendships and bonds between the campers. At Point O'Pines campers not only make new friends, but they build relationships that last a lifetime. Campers truly have time to not only try out many new activities, but they also have the time to master them. Each camp summer is an unfolding story that builds to an exciting final crescendo. Campers lead a series of special events that are prepared throughout the summer, such as our Team Sing, Senior Night, Gold Rush and Banquet. The most treasured aspects of camp would not be realized in a shorter season.

Why an all girls camp?
Being an all girls camp affords our campers more opportunities to thrive in leadership roles, build their confidence through learning new skills and develop strong bonds with fellow campers without the self-conscious anxiety that can be present in a co-educational setting. Point O'Pines provides an increasing number of social events as girls mature with our brother camp, Brant Lake Camp for Boys. We watch with excitement as our campers grow into secure young women ready to apply their sound character and strong leadership skills.

Why a broad program camp vs. a specialty camp?
Campers with an intense interest in a specific activity area, such as tennis or horseback riding, enjoy Point O'Pines Camp as much as campers with broader interests. In tennis, for example, campers are exposed to the very best in skilled individual instruction. Through schedule flexibility a camper with more interest in tennis can choose to have more time on the courts, but by being in an environment with diverse opportunity, campers can equally benefit from skilled instruction while swimming in the lake, working on a individualized fitness program or when spending time on the potter's wheel. Campers who come to camp very skilled in some activities leave camp reaching new heights in their specialty but at the same time build an appreciation of other activities and become more well-rounded people. A balanced program is more fun for campers, and more fun allows both greater development of strong talents and the emergence of new skills.

Circle of FriendsWhy Point O'Pines Camp?
Point O'Pines Camp is a unique place. Campers grow and gain self-esteem, discover life-long interests and skills and learn to live in a community. Our staff demonstrates a culture of care and responsibility and sets a positive example for campers. Every detail at the Point is as perfect as we can possibly make it. Point O'Pines Camp is a place of beauty and fun, and a haven where friendships flourish.
